Two iMSL Projects are funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) “Schwerpunktprogramm” SPP 2100


In two projects the future development of Robotic Systems from “soft” materials will be pushed forward. Dr. Gianluca Rizello’s project is about the modelling and controlling of tentacle structures based on dielectric elastomers, while the second project under the management of Prof. Seelecke studies and experimentally validates the creation method of said tentacles. Dielectric elastomers created out of silicone are used due to their actuation and sensing properties, which matches wonderfully for the control of compact and energy efficient systems, that intelligent soft and delicate materials can manipulate and can at the same time minimize the risk for injury of humans.
